Expressions of "OMG, this is gorgeous paper!!"

Sometimes a product catches your breathe by surprise & you just run with it. This was me today, the Expressions of Ink Specialty DSP is stunning!!

And what makes this even more amazing is that some of the sheets have pink throughout it, so figure, hey? (Ha!)

So while I havent made a card using pink this time, I am using a Designer Paper that have pinks in it!!!

This designer paper has a beautiful array of colours in it - Evening Evergreen, Just Jade, Magenta Madness, Mint Macaron, Pale Papaya, Pear Pizzazz, Polished Pink with Gold Foiling through 6 of the 12 designs.

Im loving the flecks of Gold Foiling throughout one of sheets, dont you?  the It looks so good with the sheet that has all the greens on it, (Evening Evergreen, , Just Jade, Mint Macaron & Pear Pizzazz),

Cutting the base to a measurement of 17.5 x 14.5 cm & scoring it at 10.5 cm, I placed a piece of White inside leaving the front as the shorter part of the card.

I gave my Cut & Emboss Machine a work-out with then card front & leaves in various cardstock colours & Gold Foil, but it sooooo worth it!

Using the sentiment from Dragonfly Garden , I used the Versamark & Gold Embossing Powder, cut it out & raised it up.

Then I simply mounted the leaves on the edge of the cardstock, being sure that none of the adhesive was exposed at the back of them, so it didnt go on the DSP when the card was closed.

I then used this same process on a container that I had. I wanted to dress it up as a gift for a friend, she had given me a home grown pumpkin & I have dried out the seeds for her. So now she has more pumpkin seeds for next year!!

And the brown paper inside the container helps to keep the seeds dry, apparently?

I kinda like how a couple of the smaller leaves fit in the lid of the container, also, dont you?

If you are still unsure of how I put these items together, you can watch my Live video here. Let me know what you think of my video or what Ive made :)

Thanks for stopping by, its been a while, I know,

Happy stamping... Jo x

Kylie's Demonstrator Training Program - Monthly Blog Hop

Thanks for coming along for this Blog Hop!! I've joined other demonstrators from a group run by Kylie, hence the name, right?

Since being at home due to the Corona Virus, I have been looking for new ideas to share with my stamping ladies, over Zoom.
Each Monday night is a hoot as we sit in our clothes, or sometimes pyjamas, laugh together & show off our latest creations of the week.

During this time I like to offer them a challenge so that they have a reason to create & hopefully I inspire them to try something new & finish with making a card for someone special!!
So last night I showed them my latest creation...

Im not sure what this fold is actually called, so Im calling it a Triple Fold Card :)

It is simply a piece of DSP scored at various places along the length so that it folds in on itself!

Super simple but so effective!! I love how the DSP does all the work & I dont have to do much additional work to it!!

Maybe you can find some DSP that needs to be loved, to send a card like this to someone special too?

Thanks for commenting below & thanks for stopping by...enjoy the rest of the Blog Hop! You can start from the top of the list or find my name, (36) and continue from there. Enjoy x

COVID-19 Giveback PDF Download.

Our world has completely changed over the last 6 weeks. COVID19 has spun us all up-side-down and in-side-out. I've gone from working to not working, to working again - even though I am in Child Care, an employment area that was considered essential.

It's during time of crisis that we often see companies, families & workers assist others. It's the human way of life, right?

And Stampin' Up! are no different!! During this difficult time, many of us are at home, isolating for their own health & the health of others, while nurses, doctors, supermarket staff, cleaners, pharmacy staff, emergency workers, school & child care educators & more are working, trying to help others.

In order to help various world wide organisations fight this incredible enemy, SU! have released 15 pages of COVID19 related printable images for you to use on cards. You can send cards to your friends & family or give them to those who are working on the front line, to show your support.

This photo only shows a portion of the sentiments. These are also available in various colours.

Some are 'tongue-in-cheek', some are a great play on words, while others absolutely show our gratitude to those who are working tirelessly, whatever their field of work.

Some of the sentiments also show that while we understand that we need to stay home, (for now), some of us have let ourselves go!! (The owner of this blog is very much included in this!!)

The downloadable PDF is available here, worldwide & is sent to your email directly, once payment has been made.

These are just a couple of examples of what I have made, using the black & white sentiments only, until I have assess to a colour printer... Id love to see what you make, which sentiments make you smile & create. Be sure to use the #sharesunshine so that we can all admire your work too!!

Be sure to come back soon, to see the rest of the cards that I've made using more of these sentiments.

Keep stampin', Jo

Happy birthday hubby!!

It was my husband's birthday last week & while he doesn't like much fuss around him, we still wanted to acknowledge the occasion, of course.

I struggle coming up with a new layout occasionally, so I chose to use one from a previous card I'd made. This card was cased from Brian King, if I remember correctly.

Before we found each other, Brett enjoyed scuba-diving, therefore lots of time was spent on boats to go to the various diving positions in the ocean.

This is why I chose to use the Sailing Home & I 'reckon' it works well!! I tipped the layout onto a landscape card instead & just quietly, I love it!!

I made this card during a Live Video on my JoWeedonMelbourne facebook page, so if you would like to see that, it is here.

Ive used Night of Navy & Balmy Blue cardstock & dont you just love the effect of the crackle Paint stamp with the Balmy Blue ink on the same coloured cardstock?

And can you see a small area of the Waterfront stamp set being used behind the lighthouse, too?

Inside, I chose to keep it simple, with a small sentiment from Itty Bitty Birthdays & the crisp image o the anchor finished this card off perfectly!!

Im so glad I didnt spend hours trying to come up a new layout, colours & stamp sets, when I can simply change a couple of things from a previous card & have something completely different!!

Thanks for stopping by, leave a comment if you wish, I do love reading them!!

Jo.

Come For a Tour of My Stamp Room...

I've had a couple of customers to ask to see my stamp room.

And given that it isn't absolutely clean very often, I decided do what Nike tells us all: Just Do It!!

So this is my very casual tour of my stamp room, messy desk & all!!

This was the first time I had turned the camera around to show my face, rather than the things I am making and/or my hands actually creating, so I took a minute or two to breathe...

I'd love to hear what you think of my creative space.

Be sure to come back and see what my next post will be about, thanks for stopping by,

Jo.

A Double Challenge!!

This week I decided to participate in the Colour INKspiration Challenge #58, BUT boy oh boy, I didn'r realise how much of a challenge it would be for me!!

The colours to use were: Crumb Cake, (yep), Whisper White, (no problem), Gold, (okee-dokee) and Blushing Bride...eeek!! PINK!! And not the singer, either!!

And then I realised that I didn't have any gold embossing powder, which would have worked for me... I lent it to a friend a few weeks ago... Aghghgh!!
No photo description available.

So I used Black Embossing Powder on the Gold Foil!! I haven't done that before, embossed onto Foil... Laying this on a peice of Crumb Cake that went through the Big Shot & Subtle Embossing Folder, gave it some more dimension also...

Gosh, I love a bit of fussy cutting! Although this took no time at all to cut out.

The detail of the Unicorn's mane is so gorgeous on the gold... *sigh* & I lifted all the layers up on Dimensionals.

I also saw that Just Add Ink's challenge this week was to use two of the three items: Foil, Ribbon OR Sequins... So that was an easy step up for my current card - Just add sequins!!

And suddenly I am happy with the card!!
Considering I didn't know what to do with the pink portion of the card AND the gold component, I think it came together ok - and Im okay with okay, lol!!

I guess, this is the whole reason for a challenge, right?

And these two certainly did that to me!!

To see how others interpreted these challenges, just head to the links above and leave a comment for them also :)

Until next time, happy Stampin'... Jo.

It's Still My Birthday!!

Happy birthday celebrations continue for me!!

I was lucky enough to receive these two cards, during the week, so even though it is almost 3 weeks after my 10th SU! birthday, Im still receiving cards!!

Im happy with that!! LOL!!

This first card is from Mandy, a fellow demo in Sydney. We became strong friends recently when we attended a SU! event & have chatted since.

Mandy has used the gorgeous Beauty Abounds stamp set, markers and a touch of Wink of Stella, (this adds so much sparkle to a project!!) Ive always loved green & purple together, so the matching of Granny Apple Green with Highland Heather is just perfect, to me!!

This next card is from Kelly, who I met again in November, at OnStage last year!! Her smile is infectious and her work is always stunning!

Using the Mosaic Mood Specialty paper, Kelly simple used the matching dies to cut out the image from another sheet of DSP, propping it up on Dimensionals!! And using the Stitched Nested Labels to create the tag, coming down from the top of the page, is a great additiion!!

The sheen on this Specialty paper is just stunning - you dont need to add much more, it speaks for itself!! The embossing on the paper is beautiful.

So thankyou Mandy and Kelly, your cards and thoughtfulness put a smile on my face for days!!

I'm very grateful for all the support, love, laughs & creativity I receive from you both,

Jo x

Feeling The Love!!

Last week I mentioned that it was my 10th birthday as a Stampin' Up! demonstrator...

I've had such a great reaching out of friendships from those who have traveled any part of those 10 years with me, it truly was a great week.

I was lucky enough to receive a couple of cards in the mail, along with many messages of support via text or messenger, so I certainly felt the love!!

The first card I received was from Alison, who I spent the day with a few weeks ago... We have been friends for a long time now and are always a great support to each other, about SU! and all things in life, really!
She used the now retired Broadway Bound DSP to make a double opening card - probably the wrong name for it, but I love it either way!!

The SU side of the card than also opens to her gorgeous message to me. Just beautiful!

The other card that I received is from Ellen, who has a stunning smile and wicked sense of humour to match!! She has used the new stamp set, Crafting Forever with the Lovely Lipstick cardstock.

How fun and bright is her card - these women know how much I love the Bright family

I just love the friendships that I have made throught SU!, they are life long!!

I thought I would also show you the second of the 2 cards that I made to say thankyou to my fellow friends & demos of SU! This was to thank them for their support during the last 10 years of my time with them.

Here I have used the Love What You Do stamp set, the Brayering technique, with the Stitched Nested Label Dies, (what a mouthful, lol). I made 20 of these to send out & I am still amazed that I didnt get bored with making so many of the same things - maybe because I knew how important they were to me?

Well, I'm off now, to catch some sleep before I travel to the other side of town tomorrow with my youngest, Darcy. He will be refereeing all day for a  basketball tournament while I catch up with a special friend - I may even have something to share with you, if we get to create, fingers crossed!!

Happy stamping x

ESAD So Long Old Favourites Blog Hop

Old friends are always hard to say goodbye to, arent they? And by old, I mean longtime friends, like one of our Mother's Group mums who lives in Hobart, Tasmania.
It's always hard to say goodbye to her.. *sigh*

Thankfully, being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator means that while we are saying goodbye to some much loved products, we know that new ones are coming!! Just one of the many perks of being a demo!!

Another perk is being a member of the inspiring group we lovingly call ESAD. The details are below & you really cant put into words the warm n fuzzy feeling you get from being with such a wonderful group of like minded people!!

With the house-keeping stuff out of the way, let's get onto the reason we are here: what we have created to share with you... & you would have come from Siobhan's  blog. I must say that I've spent a bit of time looking at her work & it's stunning!!

I'm so glad you took part in the blog hop Siobhan, I love what you do :) Now, onto my work...

I loved this Bubble Over stamp set when I saw it & yet, I havent used it much at all?? And then this blog hop comes along & I drag it out & dust it off AND I"M LOVING IT AGAIN, go figure?

The fun of this set makes me smile. And weddings are meant to be fun, right, so this card had to be also...

Ive used Bubble Over, as mentioned, the Bottle & Bubbles dies, the Polka Dot Basics embossing folder with Lemon Lime Twist & Berry Burst cardstock.

Both of the main colours haven't grabbed me for 2 years & now I'm loving them too! Crazy, hey?

The only current items are the Whisper White & Basic Black cardstock, StazOn ink & Vellum, so I was pretty happy with how this worked out.

My next project came about because I participated in my first challenge over the weekend. The challenge presented was to make a card using Basic Black, Whisper White & a pop of colour.

It had me thinking, but after making the previous card, I had it worked out.

Here I teamed up Swirly Bird stamp set with the matching dies, Swirly Scribbles & Follow Your Dreams. I believe this technique is called "Inset", where you make a puzzle essentially with the various pieces...

My last creation I'm sharing is using the So Santa stamp set teamed with Botanical Butterfly DSP. I so want it to be summer again, as we begin to approach winter, I just yearn for the sun on my face, but maybe not as much as poor Santa, he could do with a hat for protection!!

And learning how to do the Reflective technique was simple & fun too - I'll share that this week, in another post, so be sure to come back :)

Of course, us demos wouldn't usually show off the light bouncing off the embossing powder, but I just had to show you how it looks like water, right!!

I've used more current items on this card: Balmy Blue ink & cardstock, Watercolor Pencils with the Aqua Paint Brush, StazOn Ink, Balmy Blue, Whisper White & Basic Black cardstock.

I do always enjoy using DSP differently to how it was intended, ie: butterflies on a card or scrap page...

The other thing I loved about this whole process was that I needed my 16 year old son to take the photos for me, as the camera on my Iphone is broken. So Kyle organised the way the light should be, how the card should be standing etc & took the photos for me - he did okay, didn't he!!
Thanks mate.

I hope you have enjoyed my items, I absolutely enjoyed the challenge of making them for you, be sure to come back for more inspiration sometime.
