A Sympathy Perennial Essence.

I recently ran a poll on my  Facebook page, to ask which card they wanted to see me create while doing a Live Video. The choices were a sympathy card, an 18th or a general 'Hello' card.

Well, the punters decided that I create a Sympathy card.

Perhaps because it is one of the hardest cards to make?

I made this card using the newly released Perennial Essence DSP & I allowed the gorgeous paper to do most of the work.

Is it just stunning!!
I used the Morning Magnolia stamp set, Stitched Nested Dies with Powder Pink cardstock & ink, to create the sentiment.

When I stamped the sentiment, I pressed the stamp into Versamark ink first, then directly into the Powder Pink ink. I then shook Clear Embossing Powder over it & used the Heat Gun to heat it.

It made the sentiment pop just a little bit!

You can view my Live Video here.

Here's hoping that I don't have to make many more sympathy cards...

Thanks for spotting by. xxx

Help, please...

My husband had these sitting on his desk for so long & I finally investigated what they were??
It turns out they are a chocolate holder, of sort - these happened to have Ferraro's in them!!

How cute would they look with petals around them?

Id love to know where they can be purchased because I suddenly have some mo-jo surrounding them!!

And of course, once I find out, I'll let you know, too - Caring is sharing & sharing the love, right?

Where The Wild Things Are...

I was at a team meeting last week & the theme for creations was Halloween.
I literally didn't get that memo so I turned up un-prepared, oops!!

But I am very blessed to have a wonderful group of women who share their ideas, stamp sets & cardstock with me, so I was able to come away with these examples!!

Colouring them with the Stampin' Blends was therapeutic too!! I do like to colour and then fussy cut!

Im just not sure of what to make with them, so they are sitting on the desk, watching all that I do at the moment, lol!!

As soon as I saw this little guy, he reminded me of a childhood story: Where The Wild Things Are. It's a story that still stands today & I read it to the children that I work with, during the week!
So as I mentioned, I have no idea what will become of these little creatures, but I will certainly show them off when I do!!

Thanks for looking!

Jo.

Adult Learner's Week - Sep 2019

I was asked to run a card making class to the adult participants at the Neighbourhood Centre that I work at. I usually wear a Child Care Co-Ordinators hat, but it was a great change to work in a different role, during Adult Learner's Week.

I decided that the card I wanted to show was:
(1) reasonably easy for all crafting levels of Learners,
(2) I needed the card to be easy to explain, for the various levels of English present,
(3) I knew I would have around 25 students, so it couldn't have too many steps involved.

So this is the card I chose!
There was such a mix of participants & just like at other classes, some worked out how to use the double sided tape quick, while others needed help.
There was a real buzz as everyone decided which stamp to use & how the process of putting a card together worked.
For quite a few people, they had either NEVER made a card like this or they haven't done this type of creation for so long...
 But the results were fantastic!!
 Some even made two!!
This gentleman told me that he had made cards before & knew what to do. And he did!!
How big is her smile, it's so infectious!!

What a great class it was! 35 people of about 18 countries made their card & left with it to give to someone they care about!!

This is exactly what SU! is all about!!

Something A Little Different!!

It probably won't come as a surprise to anyone that follows my blog that I enjoy a challenge.

And that I always seem to need a project to work on, no matter what it is...

So when my children's basketball team began to think about organising a Presentation Day at a local formal setting, I knew that I wanted to help with the decorations. Im on the committee in other roles, but this one really had me excited!

Our club's colours are black, white & teal, otherwise known as Basic Black, Whisper White & Taken With Teal,. For those of us who have been around, Taken With Teal is a retired colour sadly, but gosh I loved it!!

So I started with these base blocks that I found from Lombards, a party supply shop near-by.

I'm glad to have found these small balloons that match our team colours perfectly!! The next challenge was to sit and blow these up - there were over 170 to blow up!

Thank goodness for the electric blower!!

Seeing the table decorations set up and having everyone file in was terrific.  I love when you prepare so well for an event & it all comes together! It's a  great feeling to be involved with such a committed committee.
These are the trophies that each Coach presented to their player who they believe has played the hardest, learnt & applied the most or for whatever reason the Coach thinks is applicable.

The other players received one of these trophies each for their part in the team over the season.  There were smiles all round!!

And here is everyone in our Committee - what a good looking bunch we are, hey?

I'm incredibly grateful to have such knowledgable group supporting our children in our basketball team - it gives us all a great future!!

Thanks for reading about another part of my world, see you next time :)

Come For a Tour of My Stamp Room...

I've had a couple of customers to ask to see my stamp room.

And given that it isn't absolutely clean very often, I decided do what Nike tells us all: Just Do It!!

So this is my very casual tour of my stamp room, messy desk & all!!

This was the first time I had turned the camera around to show my face, rather than the things I am making and/or my hands actually creating, so I took a minute or two to breathe...

I'd love to hear what you think of my creative space.

Be sure to come back and see what my next post will be about, thanks for stopping by,

Jo.
