Stunning Prism Box.

I was scrolling through the internet the other week and happened to find a stunning Prism Box!! It was smaller than this, so I decided to make the original size, from Sally Stampers and then create my own again.

This size, just over 7 cm is slightly larger than Sally's and is written using metric measurements, as Sally is from England.

I love this box, it has such 'wow factor' & uses only 2 sheets of A4 cardstock & just under 1/2 a sheet of DSP!

Ive now written a PDF tutorial so if you wish to have a copy, please go to here.

Dont forget to share your own creations!!

Happy creating! Jo

2 Fast 2 Curious - Happy birthday card!

It was my nephew's 2nd birthday yesterday & with some of the lifting of the restrictions, here in Melbourne, we could have our family together to celebrate!!

There were grandparents, aunties, uncles, cousins, siblings & close family friends eating, talking, laughing & enjoying being together, after so long of not being able to!!

And the food was awesome too!!

So of course, with celebrating Julian's birthday, there just had to be a card made for him, from us.

At the moment 2 Fast 2 Furious is out & while Julian doesnt appreciate the movie yet, he does enjoy the cars that he plays with & all things fast!

And he is a curious little thing, learning about his world, by his brother's side.

So this card marched his curious nature, also!!

I drew a grid on the front of the card, (before I assembled it, obviously) & cut out where the black part of the checkered area was to be. Using a craft knife, I then cut out the black squares from a piece of scrap Basic Black cardstock & placed them into the gaps.

This way the card front was completely flat.

I then ran the Real Red cardstock attached to the Foam AdhesiveSheets through the Cutting & Embossing Machine, using the Playtime Alphabet dies.
It's so good that some of the letters are doubled up so it makes for a quicker process!!

Then I found some retired All Geared Up key embellishments & attached it with some white twine & punched a couple of balloons - ta-dah!!

Thanks for stopping by, I appreciate you seeing what Ive made.

Expressions of "OMG, this is gorgeous paper!!"

Sometimes a product catches your breathe by surprise & you just run with it. This was me today, the Expressions of Ink Specialty DSP is stunning!!

And what makes this even more amazing is that some of the sheets have pink throughout it, so figure, hey? (Ha!)

So while I havent made a card using pink this time, I am using a Designer Paper that have pinks in it!!!

This designer paper has a beautiful array of colours in it - Evening Evergreen, Just Jade, Magenta Madness, Mint Macaron, Pale Papaya, Pear Pizzazz, Polished Pink with Gold Foiling through 6 of the 12 designs.

Im loving the flecks of Gold Foiling throughout one of sheets, dont you?  the It looks so good with the sheet that has all the greens on it, (Evening Evergreen, , Just Jade, Mint Macaron & Pear Pizzazz),

Cutting the base to a measurement of 17.5 x 14.5 cm & scoring it at 10.5 cm, I placed a piece of White inside leaving the front as the shorter part of the card.

I gave my Cut & Emboss Machine a work-out with then card front & leaves in various cardstock colours & Gold Foil, but it sooooo worth it!

Using the sentiment from Dragonfly Garden , I used the Versamark & Gold Embossing Powder, cut it out & raised it up.

Then I simply mounted the leaves on the edge of the cardstock, being sure that none of the adhesive was exposed at the back of them, so it didnt go on the DSP when the card was closed.

I then used this same process on a container that I had. I wanted to dress it up as a gift for a friend, she had given me a home grown pumpkin & I have dried out the seeds for her. So now she has more pumpkin seeds for next year!!

And the brown paper inside the container helps to keep the seeds dry, apparently?

I kinda like how a couple of the smaller leaves fit in the lid of the container, also, dont you?

If you are still unsure of how I put these items together, you can watch my Live video here. Let me know what you think of my video or what Ive made :)

Thanks for stopping by, its been a while, I know,

Happy stamping... Jo x

"Opposite Stamp' technique.

During a day at a fellow demonstrator's house, where there were 3 of us together & we sent the day exploring the new products from the latest Holiday catalogue, (scroll to the bottom of the page to download it), & of course, the Saleabration catalogue.

We had such a great day, laughing, eating & creating - we have missed being with others to share ideas & learned techniques.

Speaking of which, Alison showed me this technique & I decided to use it for my Friday Facebook Live. I'd love you to watch it & share your creativity too!!

These two, (Brilliant Blue & Balmy Blue / Gorgeous Grape & Highland Heather) are reasonably simple, where I have then used the Handsomely Suited stamp set & matching Suit & Ties dies, (10% off the bundle when you purchase them together!!).

You may see in the purple card that Ive used the suspender die so that the cardstock looks more like a piece of ribbon? I love how we can adapt the uses of the dies to fit the project!!

When I was with Alison, I challenged her to make a female version of this card, so she used Magenta Madness & Mango Melody - man, you need your sunnies on for this one!! But it is so perfect at the same time!

And instead of simply stampng on the inside of the card, Ive die cut one of the bows from the Very Vanilla mat & inserted a piece of Mango Melody. This pops against the Magenta Madness, right?

I think this final card may be my fav!! I decided to cover only part of the front of the card & sing the Well Suited DSP, I added another feature to it. That DSP design, (gingham, perhaps?) is quite busy, so toning it down like this makes it easier on the eye.

And that DSP works so well the inside of the card, too!!

I cant wait to try this technique with other stamp sets, they will all look so different, wont they?

During Jan & Feb, it is also Saleabration time, (the first of two this year!!). This is such an exciting time to purchase items - for every $90 of products from the current Annual or Mini Catalogue, you automatically earn a FREE product from the Salabration brochure!!

Be sure to check out which products can be earned for $90 0r $180, to reduce confusion.

And of course, if all else fails, Im here to help you!

Given that it is the beginning of the month, there is a new Hostess Code to use (36ACJASY), if your order is below $250, so be sure to use it when placing your order.

Thanks for stopping by, see you in the next post,

Jo

Art Gallery & Gilded Leafing C.A.S.E.ing

C.A.S.E.ing (Copy And Share Everything), the catalogue is such a great way to gain inspiration if you are lacking it. A bit like me, I guess, I've had my birthday & Christmas celebrations, then New Year's & a short stay away from home, so haven't sat at my creative desk much lately.

So looking through the latest Mini Catalogue, I found this card that made me smile & I decided to copy it with the prodcts that I have already.

The left image is from the catalogue and my finished product is on the right - quite similar, don't you think? I didn't have the acetate sheets for the background of the card, so I used Versamark & it gives a similar effect! SU! products are so good like that!

Using the catalogues for inspiration is such an easy thing to do!!

The stamp set that I used was Art Gallery, found on page 32 of the brochure. This link for it is above.

You can see how I made this card by watching my Live Video here.

Playful Alphabet Dies certainly make me want to play!!

I was inspired by a card I received from a fellow friend & demo, Alison, to buy these, the Playful Alphabet Dies.
And. OMG! they are so fun!!

The possibilities really are endless with what you can create!! The letters, numbers AND punctuation make it such a great die set!

So of course, I had to start having a play with them, right?

I've been asked to make Divorce cards before & have struggled in the past. But these dies, teamed with a sentiment from Celebrate Sunflowers make this task so easy!
While this baby card doesn't actually have a baby type sentiment or image on it, it's exactly what it is!! Or it could be for parents of an adult child that has moved out of home, perhaps?

Either way, I just love how it turned out.

This stamped sentiment has to be one of my all-time favourites, as a demo. It represents everything that is motherhood, juggling work/ house/ sports/ outside family commitments.

So of course, "ugh" had to be used, just to accentuate the truth of it all!!

You can see my Live video, filmed last night, here on my Facebook page: Jo Weedon Melbourne

Thanks for giving me a reason to create!

Bundle It Up!

When you purchase certain bundles, (that is a stamp set with either matching dies or a punch), you automatically receive a 10% discount - just for purchasing them together!

This immediately gives you so many more options for creativity. And of course, just because the items come together, it doesn't mean you are only restricted to using them without any other products!

Sometimes a simple stamped image & punch works well, just like this card...
And other times, you can go all out & involve many different products, like this one.

I like to focus on bundles for these three reasons:
  •  First, bundles already include a discount—and everyone loves a discount.
  • Second, they show off one of Stampin’ Up!’s best benefits: our awesome product coordination.
  • Third, bundles help stampers create fantastic projects with less effort.

This DSP & many others are now on sale at My On-line shop, within Australia.

Don't forget to tick the box to have me as your nominated demonstrator so that I can help you with your order, at any time.
(If you don't choose a demo, then when you get stuck, we cant assist you - how annoying right?)

It was nice to see you here, see you again, soon,

Jo x

Cards For Customers.

I'm trying to find people who are also interested in creating, stamping & giving out cards that they have made themselves. And I'm doing this by making up small packs with a brochure, my Live video & class details, (when they can begin again) & an example of what they could learn to make.

It's always a fine line between showing off our gorgeous products & not overwhelming the receiver with the feeling that, "I could never make this...". So I decided to use the Beautiful World stamp set & accompanying it with the Worlds of Good DSP!

The way the design ran, determined the way the card was presented, obviously, but they both certainly work!!

How gorgeous is that shine from the Bronze embossing, hey?

I can't wait to finish packing it altogether & handing these out & apart from getting my name out there, it just may give someone a smile when they receive one of these cards - from me to them and then onto someone they care about!!

Thanks for stopping by! Jo x

One card, 3 designs!

Fun with Parts & Pieces

Can you see how these 3 cards use the same products, but are quite different?

That's how versatile these products are!!
  • A Crushed Curry card base
  • A 3-3/4" x 5" (9.5 x 12.7 cm) piece of white cardstock
  • A 4" x 3/4" (10.2 x 1.9 cm) piece of Cajun Craze Cardstock
  • A 5-1/2" x 2" (14 x 5.1 cm) piece of Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper
  • Life Is Beautiful Stamp Set
The SU! concept artist accepted this challenge and now look at all of the lovely cards: one for summer, one for autumn, and one all-occasion card or any card for any occasion!
I particularly wanted to draw your attention to the card with three 1-5/8" x 3-3/4" (4.1 x 9.5 cm) panels. The first depicts late summer/early autumn, the second shows a tree in full autumn glory, and the third panel illustrates a tree preparing to cosy up and hibernate for the winter.

By changing the number and colour of the leaves in each panel, the artist was able to suggest the seasonal progression—and create a fun build-up of leaves on the bottom of the card, which gets bigger with each panel.
I do love the idea of taking part in a challenge similar to this, just find & use measurements & items similar to these & allow your mo-jo to flow...

I’d love to see your creations!

"Life's Better Than" worrying about fixing a decent mistake!! :)

On Friday nights, at 8 pm  (AEST), I like to go Live on my Jo Weedon Melbourne Facebook page.

A challenge was placed on a SU! page using various pre-cut pieces & then make a card, of any theme, so I decided to ask my viewers to help with putting my mystery card together!!

My youngest boy's girlfriend's birthday is today, so it was a great reason to work on a card. And she is so perfect for Darcy, they both looooooove chocolate!!

So of course, "Nothing Better Than" had to be front & centre!

You can watch my Live here & see my big mistake, eeer, I mean opportunity for learning!! 😂

I'm so happy with the end result! I'll definitely be making more using this layout & will absolutely take part in more of these mystery challenges too!!

Happy birthday Bec, we all hope you have an amazing day & a great year ahead!
If there are any products that you see here or on my Live that you would like to purchase, here is a quick On-line shop - be sure to choose the option to have me as your Demonstrator. This makes it easier when you need assistance from me, on-line.
